Retailers

Location Analysis - Part of the selection process for any successful retail chain should be a detailed assessment of the location of its stores. By comparing demographic data on a census block, ZIP Code, city, or trade area basis to the characteristics of a retailer's best clients, a clearer picture of the desirability of any location will become evident. Other considerations should include the location of competitors, population and demographic distributions, population growth, traffic flows, ingress, egress, and impact on existing stores. Mr. Shabram has completed dozens of location analysis studies for the Home Depot, Petsmart, Sports Authority, Crate & Barrel, Modern Woman, and Country Buffet.*

Transfer Impacts - Opening a new store, while increasing market share, visibility, and synergy, can also have negative impacts on the profitability of existing stores. Shabram, Inc. can analyze the overall impact on existing and proposed stores by understanding the source of the current customer base and determining their likelihood to visit the new store. This change in shopping pattern may have positive and/or negative effects as a more conveniently located stores may increase overall store visits by these customers, but it may also decrease the sales volume at the existing stores to a point that they may no longer be profitable to operate. Patrick Shabram has done transfer impact analysis for the Home Depot, Petsmart, Crate & Barrel, Country Buffet, and Burger King.

Market Strategies - Any retailer looking to enter a new market needs to ask the following: how many stores and where to open them? By taking a market wide view, drawing trade areas within these markets, locating competitors, and assessing the highest source of customers, a strategy can be developed that gives target locations for opening new stores. These strategies can be updated to reflect the availability of real estate, growth patterns, and the opening of new competitor stores. Patrick Shabram has experience doing market strategies for the Home Depot, Petsmart, Crate & Barrel, and Grease Monkey.
