Patrick L. Shabram founded the company as Shabram Consulting after his Masters thesis on Russian River Valley viticulture created interest by a number of professionals in the wine industry. Mr. Shabram had already spent several months providing private consulting to Leap Frog Enterprises, which had acquired the technical assets of his former employer, Explore Technologies, Inc, where he played an instrumental role in creating a ground breaking interactive globe for the educational market. With the increased interest in his services, Mr. Shabram decided to formalize his consulting work, creating Shabram Consulting in November of 1998.
Patrick Shabram first became familiar with the wine industry working for several three and four-star restaurants while attending college at the University of Colorado. Upon graduation, Mr. Shabram managed a three-star restaurant for nearly two years, which gave him the opportunity to help build and improve a wine list and spirit offerings.
After three years of living and working in Kobe, Japan, Mr. Shabram returned to the United States to pursue his Masters degree in Geography at San Jose State University. Upon completion, Mr. Shabram accepted a market research position with Thompson Associates, providing location analysis, sales forecasts, and market strategies to a number of well-known national retailers including the Home Depot, Petsmart, Zany Brainy, and Crate & Barrel. Mr. Shabram has also held executive level positions with Rewards2K.com, Inc. (ecommerce) where he was hired as Director of Marketing Research but promoted to Director of Operations after just six months, and a senior level position managing the Sales & Marketing Department of Modular Information Systems (Computer Consulting and Winery Management Software). In 2006, after writing his first book on baseball stadiums, he founded a publishing company based on his work in real estate. The company grew to include medical publications as well a variety of books and publications from local authors.
Finally, in 2010, after over a decade teaching as an adjunct instructor at Las Positas College in Livermore, California, and a year at Chabot College in Hayward, California, Mr. Shabram made the decision to enter academe full-time. Accepting a faculty position with South Plains Collge in Levelland, Texas, he relocated to Lubbock, Texas. He continues to work as geographic consult in the wine industry, and continues to do most of his research in California.
